Monique de Meyere

Born in 1962.
Lives and works in Amsterdam (The Netherlands).

My motivation to paint is to be able to express what fascinates and touches me. This can be people and their specific expression and attitude but also other images such as impressions I have gained during trips to South Africa, for example, or a subject from current events that concerns me. 

In addition to painting on canvas, I also paint on wood and glass. For example, I paint wooden boxes with different images that together tell the story of a subject or depict the life of a client. The paintings on glass of e.g. lobsters, fish or birds interact well with the transparent background because of their distinct colors. My compositions on glass are also available on tiles in the Mo Tiles Webshop.

My compositions are characterized by the use of bright, expressive colors. Whether I paint a model or a cityscape or an animal: the colors determine the atmosphere and tell a story. A story that for me arises while painting. I am also a coach and also work a lot in my practice with images, existing or created on site, to encourage clients to shape their experiences, desires and possibilities.
